Frequently asked questions

What is bilbil.se?

bilbil.se is a used car search service. Every car page shows how the asking price has changed, how long the car has been listed, and a price estimate that weighs the asking price against what the same model has actually sold for.

What is happening in the used car market right now?

Over the last seven days, 10,792 used cars have been sold in Sweden at a median price of 119,300 SEK. 21,863 new listings have been published, and prices have been reduced on 10,914 listings. There are currently 163,675 cars for sale.

What have used cars actually sold for?

Make and model pages show the actual price level by model year: the median price at which cars of that model have changed hands. For an individual listing, the same information appears as a price estimate.

Can I see if a car’s price has been reduced?

Yes. Every car’s page shows asking-price changes, so you can see whether the price has dropped during the listing, and by how much.

How do I spot a good price on a used car?

bilbil.se compares a car’s asking price against similar cars of the same model, and tells you whether the price is below, at, or above the market level.

How long has a car been for sale?

For every car you can see how long it has been listed, and how the asking price has changed during that time.

How much should I pay for a used car?

The most reliable benchmark is what similar cars of the same model have actually sold for, not a single asking price. Weigh the price against the model year, mileage and equipment, and check whether the listing sits below or above the model’s typical price level.

Can you negotiate the price of a used car?

Often, yes. There is more likely room to negotiate if the car has been on the market for a long time or its price has already been reduced. Both are shown on every car’s page: time on the market and asking-price changes.
